Army Chief Qamar Javed Bajwa has signed the death warrants of eight “hardcore terrorists” involved in Safoora attack and murder of Sabeen Mehmud, reported 24 News.
The ‘terrorists’ were tried and convicted by military courts, tweeted DG ISPR Gen Asif Ghafoor.
According to statement by ISPR these individuals were involved in Safoora Attack, murder of activist Sabeen Mahmud and numerous other heinous crimes including terrorism, killing of innocent civilians, security and armed forces personnel.
“These terrorists killed over 90 people and explosives were also found from them,” said ISPR.
Four of these ‘terrorists’-Hafiz Muhammad Umar alias Jawad s/o Afzal Ahmed, Ali Rehman alias Pano/Toona s/o Asif ur Rehman, Abdul Salam alias Tayyab/Rizwan Azeem s/o Muhammad Nazar ul Islam, Khurram Shafique alias Abdullah Mansoor/Abdullah Mansuri s/o Muhammad Shafiq-were involved in attack on Ismaili Shia community’s bus at Safoora Chorangi Karachi killing 45 passengers and injuring six.
They also admitted to involve in killing of Sabeen Mahmud. The convicts admitted their crimes in front of the magistrate hence awarded death penalties.
Furthermore, Muhammad Yousaf s/o Khalid Khan, Saifullah s/o Naseeb Hussain, Bilal Mehmood s/o Qari Mehmood Ul Hassan and Muslim Khan s/o Abdul Rasheed were members of banned organizations. They were involved in killing of civilians and Law Enforcement Agencies’ personnel. They all were sentenced to death.
